1980 Vespa 50 Special

2,999.00
What we have here is a perfect custom small frame showing 3605 miles on the odometer, which started life as a 1980 "50 Special", during the next 37 years at some point the motor was swapped over to a Primavera 125cc and then a Polini 135cc cylinder kit was added along with a few other tasty bits like the Leo Vince Performance expansion chamber and a carb which measures about 17mm at the venturi. Tires are recent and scooter starts and runs perfectly on the original to the Primavera donor motor points and condenser style ignition system.Texas street legal and register-able and insurable as a vintage motorcycle, something you will really appreciate when you find out how cheap insurance is on vintage bikes. The paint is a color shifting variety of 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra type, color looks every hue from greeen to dark purple depending on the angle of the light at any given moment, definitely a well done paint job and that paint is FAR from cheap. These vintage Vespa scooters are not equipped with automatic transmissions, they are clutched 3 or 4 speed manual shift with the rear brake operated by your foot, pretty sweet bit of unique in a world of modern twist-n-go scooters. This is a consignment machine and the owner says 50mph is easy to attain for quick bursts but happy cruising speed of 40-45mph is where the scooter is really in it's "zone". This is consistent with what most folks say about the higher speed handling of the older "small frame" Vespa scooters.Like modern Vespa machines it is made of pressed and welded steel, not plastic which is a huge part of the way Vespa scooters retain so mucvh value of the course of their lives. Must see in person, very sweet and very fun, perfect for doing scooter rally/ride type events.AF1 Racing is your local source for OEM bikes, parts and service for these brands: Aprilia, Piaggio, Vespa, Moto Guzzi, Benelli, Norton, Zero and Ural Motorcycles.
