Being Naked has Never Been This Much Fun. Seriously.

From the bike which dominated the World Superbike Championship, Aprilia extracts the fiercest naked ever seen. Just like it’s sibling, the RSV4, The Tuono is the only bike in it’s class with a V4 engine. This also makes it the most powerful with 167 HP on tap! Chassis geometries are revised to match the power and commanding, upgright riding position. Racing dominance again translates to road dominance in the Tuono with breathtaking performance and the most advanced active safety features in the segment.

A Superbike With Handlebars.

Tuono V4 R, a bike that continues Aprilia’s tradition of engineering relentlessly fun streetfighters with the Tuono badge. A bike that goes beyond the wildest dreams of even the most hardcore enthusiasts - the rider who, given the chance, would use a race bike just to go grab some coffee.

For riders like these, who have a insatiable thirst for bleeding edge performance, Aprilia has created a motorcycle with the indomitable spirit of the RSV4 giving you the features and performance with the agility of a naked bike. The Tuono V4 R is In its element when accelerating and braking with unimaginable violence. It will eat up curves of any radius and swallow straights whole.

Like the original Tuono, the new V4 R is also immediately recognisable with its triple headlight fixed top fairing, but now sports the performance of a 65° V4 engine (41 horsepower more than before), and the most advanced electronics available in a motorcycle today. Aprilia has also managed to bring the weight down over 10 kilograms. These astonishing figures are a testimony to the evolution that made this exciting new model a reality.

The Motorcycle.

The Tuono proudly flaunts it’s V4 engine in all it’s glory, framed in an elegant, twin-spar, aluminum frame, only Aprilia could create. Body work is kept to a minimum, but with this much speed under command of your right hand, you’ll be thankful for what is there. A top fairing adorned with two futuristic headlamps and LED indicators at the sharp end gives the third-generation Tuono an unequivocally mean presence. Something you’d expect from a 167 horsepower naked rocketship.

Aprilia optimized it’s V4 engine to match the Tuono’s character, making it better suited to street use, while still being the undisputed king of power in its class. Power is now more linear, and lower in the rev-range, and is more controllable in low speed manuevers or traffic. Some of the features inherited by the Tuono V4 R from the RSV4 include a new exhaust system with bypass valve, which is two kilos lighter and the latest generation Ride by Wire throttle control with three rider-selectable maps. Transmission gearing is now shorter in first, second, and third, and peak torque (115.5 Nm) comes at 9,500.

The Engine.

The narrow V4 (65°) engine is unique and exotic in a street motorcycle. Extremely compact, as slim as many V-twins, the V4 is placed in an ultra-compact chassis, the 65° V4 engine is the epitome of Italian engineering ingenuity. The Tuono gives away very little to its RSV4 sibling in terms of pure performance, but in exchange offers a greater fluidity that make it more enjoyable and rewarding to ride on the road and when carrying a passenger.

The Chassis.

Aprilia has a tradition of creating state of the art chassis architectures. The aluminum frame and swingarm of the Tuono V4 R exploit the strength and flexibility of differently manufactured elements in a structure that raises the bar  in terms of balancing stiffness and feedback.

The frame developed for the Tuono V4 R has been completely revised with respect to the unit used in the RSV4 to maximize directional control and stability for a naked capable of over 168 mph (on the track, of course) while maintaining the legendary safety and impeccable precision typical of Aprilia frames. This led to chassis geometry optimizations, such as modifying the trail and lowering the engine in the frame to lower the centre of gravity, for very neutral behavior and exceptional high speed stability.

The Tuono bares it’s glistening race underpinnings in the open for all to see. Construction methods only Aprilia has mastered show a direct link to it’s Superbike sibling instead of cast pretender.

The new Tuono V4 R with APRC truly is something that every rider should experience. A complete assault on the senses, whether the bark and howl of the V4, the wind pushing against your upper body, or the blur of turns as you blaze through them. The Tuono is one of those bikes that you’ll hear people talk about for quite some time after it’s past, so don’t miss the opportunity to throw your leg over and ride the lightning.
